Blog Layout Update

Published by Al Adomite on June 4th, 2008

Well, you probably will notice a couple of minor changes around here.  First, I’ve changed the layout of the blog and shortened the sidebar area to the right and widened the content area on the left.  I think this will greatly enhance reading the content, as there will now be more content above the browser’s cutoff at the bottom.  Hopefully this will lead our readers (all three of them) down the page to more of our posts.

At least one reader suggested a change of the color scheme.  I have to admit that a lot goes into trying to get a WordPress layout correctly amended for our use.  I’m not ready to throw away my hours of work on this one until I get bored or it (which may be a few more months, at least).  What I’d like to do is maybe change the photo at the top at some point.  Not to knock the architect of the administration building, but there’s not a lot of color in the building’s design.  It’s great for housing county employees, but probably drab for the top of our blog.

Also, I’ve included a “Published by…” tag right under the headline of each post, so you’ll know which author (Mark or I) have contributed the content.  We were using a “By Al” or “By Mark”, but that was becoming redundant for those of you who read our blog through Bloglines or Google Reader, or any other RSS feed.

On that note, if you’re a regular blog consumer and you’re not using an RSS feed reader, you should go sign up for a Gmail account and use Google Reader.  It’s simply an awesome way to stay connected.

Finally, I’m just kidding about us having only three readers.  As we enter month #3 of this writing venture, I can say that Mark and I are very pleased by the response.  Our readership is well above my expectations and we can’t thank all of you enough.  Please keep commenting and we’ll keep writing!
