SIUE To Join OVC?

The Post-Dispatch reports today that newly-branded D1 SIUE is thisclose to joining the Ohio Valley Conference:
[A] mere 15 months since SIUE began the multi-year process of going D-I. Barring an unfathomable twist, the school will join the Ohio Valley Conference, likely in the next few days.
OVC and SIUE officials declined to comment on the recent vote of OVC presidents. But the way was paved before and during an OVC visit to the campus April 29-30, a visit that ended with an OVC committee recommending unanimously that SIUE be admitted.
“Shoot, I want to be a Cougar after a day here,” Southeast Missouri State associate athletics director Cindy Gannon said as the group deliberated.
While my heart will always lean towards my undergrad (MU Tigers), the sound of SIUE playing a conference schedule against SEMO and Eastern Illinois sounds compelling.
