Palin Pick
Published by Al Adomite on August 29th, 2008
Sometimes I have to laugh at TV news (yes, the same profession I studied in college). I guess like any other job, there are good producers and poor producers.
Just overhead on CNN…(paraphrasing now)…”No one really knows Palin’s record on abortion…”
I happened to be reading the wiki on Sarah Palin:
Palin is strongly pro-life and belongs to Feminists for Life.
Doesn’t anybody know how to do internet research? But they had no problem finding this little scandal:
On July 11, 2008, Governor Palin dismissed Walter Monegan as Commissioner of Public Safety and instead offered him a position as executive director of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, which he subsequently turned down. Monegan alleged shortly after his dismissal that it may have been partly due to his reluctance to fire an Alaska State Trooper, Mike Wooten, who had been involved in a divorce and child custody battle with Palin’s sister, Molly McCann.
But there was no mention of this angle fo the story:
In 2006, before Palin was governor, Wooten was briefly suspended for ten days for threatening to kill McCann’s (and Palin’s) father, tasering his 11-year-old stepson, and violating game laws. After a union protest, the suspension was reduced to five days. [Emphasis added.]
What a nice, happy, family story.
Now on CNN, someone asked if, as a mother with a Downs Syndrome child, could she handle the rigors of a national campaign. Glad to see none of the feminism of four days of the Democratic National Convention has rubbed off on any of CNN’s analysts. I’m offended by that statement.
Is this honestly the purpose of 24-Hour News? Come watch us wing the news while we get it figured out.
UPDATE: This just in, according to CNN, Alaska is an actual US state. Confirmed this morning that the state has been granted statehood.
